An innovative start-up based at the Northern Ireland Science Park has launched one of the first patent information apps for iPads which will provide key details of prescription drugs for medical professionals and patients, providing commercial opportunities for pharmaceutical companies keen to cost effectively develop generic drugs.
Patentnav, an intellectual property service consultancy, created the AtoZGenerics app which provides information on European and US patent expiry dates. The app covers common drugs such as Lipitor, the cholesterol lowering pill and Plavix, for those with heart related illness, along with some lesser known prescribed drugs. |

 What is your elevator pitch?
I keep my elevator pitch simple and just describe the services that Digital Robot Software can offer such as consultation, design, development, testing, training and support on a range of different mobile and desktop platforms and when people want to know more I always keep some of our applications on my iPhone, so I can show them examples of our work.

I'm very, very grateful that I don't need a pitch, because I'm the worst salesman you could meet. I'm way too honest about my work and in a typical UK way, I find blowing my own trumpet embarrassing if not downright distasteful. |

University of Ulster spin-out company EyeSpyFX, is one of the first Irish companies to develop an application for the iPad - Apple’s latest innovative product to hit the marketplace.
The portfolio app, ‘Ireland; Myths and Legends’, will be submitted to Apple in Dublin today (Monday May 31). It should be available worldwide by mid June. |
