The Sennheiser PX 210 BT wireless headphones are the latest piece of high tech audio kit to feature sophisticated audio processing technology from Belfast company, apt-X.
The headphones use the Bluetooth Stereo Audio Profile (A2DP) to receive audio from the source. Bluetooth I hummed as I opened the box...is it really up to the job for a set of high quality (reasonably expensive) headphones? I'll soon find out...
So what's in the box?

- 1 PX 210 BT Headphones
- 1 audio cable (2.5 mm to 3.5 mm jack plug)
- 1 multi-country charger (UK & EU Plugs supplied)
- 1 USB charging cable
- 1 rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery
- 1 carrying case
- 1 manual
- 1 CD
As I juiced up the headphones I flicked through the manual to see how to pair the headphones with my iPod. It's all explained in a few pages with a step by step picture guide. Alternatively you can sit back and watch the animated manual provided on CD on your computer.

My audio mule for the test would be an iPod Nano devoid of bluetooth technology - well there's nothing like a challenge! I used the Sennheiser BTD 300i blue tooth dongle (sold separately) to equip my iPod for the task. It's worth noting you can also get a USB dongle for your PC or Laptop if needed. You shouldn't need a dongle with a bluetooth enabled iPhone.
Getting them working...
Pairing was a simple process of holding down the power button on the headphones for 5 seconds. The LEDs on the side started to flash red and blue, then blue three times when the pairing is successful - and it was done...I love one button operations!
I kicked off one of my favourite tracks on the iPod and immediately my ears where filled with exceptional sound. It was unlike anything I had experienced before. The tech specs talk about Neodymium magnets and Duofol diaphragms for excellent sound reproduction (try saying that after a few beers in the pub) but the technology works really well. I am hearing aspects of songs on my iPod that I'd never picked up on before.

Living with them...
Ok, so we have great sounding audio, but the other key selling point is wireless - so how far can we go? We started off easy with the cuppa test ... the iPod remained in my living room whilst I walked next door to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Despite a rather thick solid wall doing its best to get in the way the music kept coming without a glitch - absolutely perfect! Pushing it a bit further I took my coffee out into the garden to catch a few rays - at around 10m the signal dropped but impressively as soon as I walked back into range the audio picked up again automatically.
Would I take them away on a trip?
With space at a premium gadgets have to work hard to make it into my hand luggage. The combination of their collapsible design, usb charger & inclusion of a neat carry case I can say they will definitely be coming with me on my next trip.
Summing it up
Sennheiser are world renowned for producing high quality products and I’m pleased to say these wireless headphones don’t disappoint. They are pricey but I think they're worth it for the superb audio & build quality. It’s safe to say my old (wired) headphones have been made redundant.
