An innovative start-up based at the Northern Ireland Science Park has launched one of the first patent information apps for iPads which will provide key details of prescription drugs for medical professionals and patients, providing commercial opportunities for pharmaceutical companies keen to cost effectively develop generic drugs.
Patentnav, an intellectual property service consultancy, created the AtoZGenerics app which provides information on European and US patent expiry dates. The app covers common drugs such as Lipitor, the cholesterol lowering pill and Plavix, for those with heart related illness, along with some lesser known prescribed drugs. |

 Belfast-based Aepona, a leading supplier of software products and services to global telecommunications operators, has won a major award for its involvement in a pioneering mobile cloud computing project in North America.
The company was presented with the Global Telecoms Business 2010 Innovation Award at a recent ceremony in London along with its partners in the project, the GSM Association (GSMA) and Canadian telecoms companies, TELUS Corporation, Rogers Wireless and Bell Canada.
The innovative programme was launched in February of this year with the aim of opening up the network and billing assets of three of Canada’s largest telecoms companies to enable application developers to create exciting new value-added services. |
